3 LED Hotspots in London

3 LED Hotspots in London

Everyone here at SND agrees that London is one of the leading cities in the world in terms of culture and technology. It flawlessly combines historical landmarks with modern lighting technologies to create an innovative approach to the design of the capital. This is especially the case around Christmas time. One of the most notable technologies that this capital uses, however, is LED lighting.

LED lighting isn't just reserved for festivities; it has a number of other purposes too. From TV screens to the conventional decorative strip lighting, LED lights have arguably transformed the lighting industry as we know it.

So, in celebration of this technology and the joy it brings, let's take a look at just three LED hotspots in London. For our luxury range of LEDs click here today!

London Eye

One of the most iconic attractions in the capital, the London Eye welcomes people from all around the world into the capital with its Ferris wheel design and above all, its beautiful night display. In 2006, the London Eye received a lighting makeover with LED bulbs. This colourful display can now be controlled digitally, allowing it to illuminate the streets of London in the evening.

In addition, in January 2015, the London Eye is rumoured to be sponsored by none-other than Coca-Cola.

Tower Bridge

Established in 1886, Tower Bridge is another famous landmark in the capital. The bridge itself stretches across the River Thames and it got its name from the Tower of London, a landmark steeped in history.

Tower Bridge, as you may have guessed or seen, also consists of a collection of LED light bulbs. These were introduced as part of the 2012 Olympic celebrations and provide a remarkable display at night. However, going back a little further, in 2008, the bridge received a complete renovation, with everything from the paintwork to the walkway interiors getting a full face-lift.

Piccadilly Circus

Our final famous London destination is Piccadilly Circus. It consists of a number of developments including illuminated signs used for advertisement purposes and of course, LED lighting. The signs you can see today used to be made up of neon lamps however, by 2011, LED light bulbs had completely taken over.

A few of the big name brands that advertise at Piccadilly Circus include Coca-Cola, Hyundai Motors, Samsung and LG.

These are just three LED hotspots in London. Do you have any more you would like to share or any other destinations around the world that use LED technology?

LED lighting isn't only for big, city-wide projects, however. It can also be used for home décor purposes. There is also a wide variety of LED lighting types available on today's market, so you're spoilt for choice in terms of colour and style!
